Oak Logs
Oak logs are a very dense hardwood that burns extremely hot and for much longer than other hardwoods. Oak logs are the creme-de-la-creme of kiln dried firewood - expensive but providing excellent value.
Birch Logs
Birch logs are the most affordable hardwood in our range and are also very easy to light thanks to the quick-lighting birch bark. A great log to get started, they burn hot and smell good too.
Ash & Beech Mix
UK grown Ash & Beech logs, another reliable hardwood outputting lots of heat with minimal smoke. Easier to light than Oak with a neutral aroma, Ash and Beech are a popular choice for open fires.
Heat Logs
Heat Logs are made from recylced wood chips or miscanthus grass. They are environmentally consciencous in this respect, making use of waste material and turning it into a very efficient source of heat for your home. Heat logs are affordable too.
Small Nets
Small nets of logs are the easiest to carry and store, logs are neatly stacked inside a net roughly 22 litres. Light enough to carry yourself from your log store to fireplace, they are also ideal for holiday homes.
Handy Bags
Roughly three times the size of a small net, the handy bag is the next step up. 10 inch logs stacked neatly in thick polythene bags available in Oak and Birch.
Barrow Bags
Logs supplied in bags 90cm tall, 45cm square. Barrow bags keep the logs stacked neatly during storage and can be moved around by using a sack trucks. Use a log basket to carry logs to your fireplace.
Bulk Bags
Otherwise known as ‘dumpy bags’, these bulk bags are the largest bags of logs we sell - a loose load of logs supplied in a cubic metre bag. Hard to move once delivered (very heavy) but great value for money.
Stacked Crates
1 cubic metre of stacked kiln dried logs. Stacked logs means less air-gap so you get more firewood in a stacked crate than a bulk bag and your logs come ready-stacked for the season. Very convenient, one of life’s great luxuries.

What is Kiln Drying?
Trees are wet and absolutely full of water when they are harvested. Water and fire don’t tend to mix that well so logs are dried before they are used. Historically logs were left out in the wind and sun for a year (often longer) to reduce moisture content. Logs dried in this way are called ‘seasoned logs’.
Kiln dried logs are placed into a large kiln powered by electricity a bit like your oven at home. Warm air is circulated around the logs for about a week until the logs have a moisture content of less than 18%.
Boiling Water Uses Energy
When you burn a wet or seasoned log, much of the energy released by the log is used to boil the water in the log. This means you get less heat, generate more smoke and burn more logs overall.
There is a cost to kiln drying logs but the cost is recovered. When you burn dry wood, you release more energy as heat which means you need to burn fewer logs.
This is good for your wallet, the planet and air quality too.
Protect Against Chimney Fires
Wet wood smoke leaves a combustable residue on the inside of your chimney. Overtime, a build-up can block the chimney and ignite causing dangerous flames to shoot out of your chimney pots. Burning wet wood is the single biggest cause of chimney fires and the effects can be devastating.
Kiln dried firewood is safe to burn which is why the UK Government requires us to be Ready to Burn Certified so you can be certain the logs you buy from us are truly dry.
I ordered logs in the summer to be delivered in early September. I received a reminder of the delivery date and they were stored in bags in the garage just as we asked. A very good service all round.

Gregory’s extensive pallet network means we can deliver logs to every corner of Devon very efficiently so whether you live in a remote corner of Dartmoor or central Exeter, we will be happy to supply you with kerbside log deliveries Monday to Friday.
All of our logs are delivered on pallets and the driver will manoeuvre the pallet off the lorry as close to your log store as possible. If you have access challenges please speak to the team prior to ordering. Thank you.
