Delivered in Nets
Each small net is approximately 45cm x 25cm x 20cm, sold by volume, approximately 22 litres. Kiln dried firewood is sold by volume, not weight, because dry logs are considerably lighter than wet logs but their volume does not change in the kiln drying process. Nets are light to carry, easy to stack and are perfect for holiday home owners looking to ration log supply to tenants.
Choose small nets of logs for convenience
These birch and oak nets are the smallest nets of kiln dried logs in our range. At just 22 litres volume (learn why we sell kiln dried logs by volume and not weight) they are small, light and easy to carry. If you live on a busy street or down a narrow lane where delivering bulk logs is more of a challenge, these small nets of logs are a good solution.
As shown in the product images, logs are stacked neatly into nets which are tied loosely at the top. The nets are similar to the nets you often buy fruit in but much stronger of course. This ensures air can circulate around the logs keeping them dry.
You can continue to store your logs in the nets in which they are supplied for this reason, the key to keeping your logs dry through the winter is in part about ensuring good airflow is maintained at all times.
Nets are very popular with holiday home owners who provide logs as part of the holiday rental. You can store nets of logs easily and ration one or two nets for each customer making it very simple to control how many logs are given to each visitor.
These nets will store nicely inside a garage, shed or log store and thanks to the nets themselves, it's then really easy to carry them indoors for use by the fire.
Frequently Asked Questions
Each small net contains approximately 22 litres of kiln dried hardwood logs. The logs are neatly packed into a compact, easy-to-handle net, making them ideal for everyday use in wood burning stoves, log burners and open fireplaces. Their convenient size also makes them suitable for homes with limited firewood storage space.
Our small nets are sold by volume rather than weight, with each net containing approximately 22 litres of firewood. The actual weight varies depending on the species of wood, the size and density of the logs and their moisture content. Oak is generally denser and heavier than birch, so two nets of the same volume may weigh different amounts.
Devon Logs supplies small nets of kiln dried oak and birch hardwood logs. Oak is a dense hardwood that produces long-lasting heat and is excellent for maintaining an established fire. Birch is easier to ignite and produces a lively flame, making it particularly popular for getting a fire going quickly. Both are excellent choices for domestic wood burning.
Yes. Our 22 litre log nets are designed to be convenient to lift, carry and move around your property. They are much easier to handle than large bulk bags or crates, making them particularly useful when carrying logs from an outdoor wood store into your home. They're also a practical choice for holiday cottages, occasional fires and anyone who prefers to move firewood in smaller quantities.
No. Our small log nets are made from open mesh material and are not waterproof. The mesh allows air to circulate around the logs but does not protect them from rain or damp conditions. We recommend storing your nets in a dry, sheltered location such as a garage, covered log store or suitable outbuilding. Avoid leaving kiln dried logs exposed to the weather.
Store your firewood nets somewhere dry, sheltered and well ventilated, ideally raised off the ground to prevent moisture being absorbed from below. A covered outdoor log store, dry garage or suitable shed is ideal. The mesh packaging allows air to circulate around the logs, helping them remain in good condition. Keep the nets protected from rain and avoid storing them directly against damp walls.
Absolutely. Our small nets contain kiln dried hardwood logs suitable for use in domestic wood burning stoves, log burners and suitable open fires. Their compact packaging means you can conveniently bring a net indoors whenever you need to top up your firewood supply. Always follow your appliance manufacturer's guidance and any local smoke control restrictions.
Both oak and birch are excellent firewood choices, but they have different burning characteristics. Birch generally lights more easily and produces a bright, lively flame, making it ideal for starting a fire or enjoying a quick burst of warmth. Oak is denser and tends to burn more slowly, providing sustained heat once your fire is established. Many customers enjoy using birch to get their fire started before adding oak for a longer burn.
Yes. Small 22 litre nets are particularly convenient for holiday cottages, Airbnb properties, guest accommodation and households that only light their fires occasionally. They provide a manageable quantity of firewood without needing to store a large bulk bag or crate. The individual nets are also easy to place beside a fireplace or provide to guests as part of a welcome package.
