Barrow Bags for Bulk Savings & Combined Convenience
Our Barrow Bags of logs are the sweet spot between bulk firewood savings while still being relatively easy to move around at home. Unlike small nets or handy bags, the per log cost is lower in a barrow bag because you're buying more firewood in one go. The more barrow bags you buy the cheaper it gets too.
However, you can't lift a barrow bag on your own (unlike a small net which is easy to pick up) so you need a sactrucs or a friend to help. That said, barrow bags of logs are still much easier to handle than a loose load where all the logs are just tipped onto the ground (only available in Plymouth) or a large crate which requires the use of a pump trolley to move.
Barrow bags are really popular because they aren't too big and heavy to be moved (with a little effort) but represent better value for money than nets.
Great variety of species available in barrow bags
We fill our barrow bags by hand to order so we can offer a mix of species. Hardwood mixes are helpful because it saves you having to buy one barrow bag of one kind and another barrow bag of another saving you money on the bulk discounts.
Why mix? Well, Oak is a very dense hardwood that gives incredible heat and longevity in the burner but they are a devil to light. To get the fire started, you want a lighter hardwood like Birch. Get the fire going with kindling, add birch logs to start with and once you've got a glowing bed of embers, use Oak.
Oak and Birch complement each other well as do Ash and Beech. We offer both of these mixes in Barrow Bags so you don't have to order the species individually, but we also offer just oak and just birch as well if you prefer one single species.
This image shows barrow bags in a standard garage to give you an idea of size. Next to the barrow bags are a few small nets for comparison.
I ordered logs in the summer to be delivered in early September. I received a reminder of the delivery date and they were stored in bags in the garage just as we asked. A very good service all round.
